Dr. Melissa Yeung, Ph.D. is the Director of Student Support and Belonging at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, Bowling Green State University. She has extensive background working with international, first-generation and historically underrepresented graduate students in public universities.
Dr. Yeung’s research centers on racial equity within the graduate and professional school environment. Her work focuses on the experiences of minoritized students as they aspire to graduate study, how they navigate the graduate and professional school application process, and their sense of belonging as enrolled graduate students. Additionally, she explores how academic resources provided to students at the undergraduate level has an impact on their success in the graduate and professional school admissions process. Building on existing frameworks for equity-minded institutions, Dr. Yeung is also committed to building an equitable environment for students. Dr. Yeung was awarded the NAGAP Research Grant Silver Award in 2021 and was the recipient of the 2023-2024 Liaison Fellowship Award for the NAGAP Leadership Academy.
