Julie Deland is the Director of Administration for the Health Policy and Management academic department at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health. In this role, she works most closely with faculty, researchers, and staff, which has created a great new learning opportunity. In partnership with the Faculty Chair for the department, she helps set the strategy for the department, creates policy, implements initiatives, and manages the budget. In addition, she leads a team of 6 and oversees things like faculty searches and hiring; academic appointments, reappointments, and promotions; staff hiring, promotions, and reclassifications; management of day-to-day operations; space management; and community engagement.
Prior to her time at The Chan School, she was at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she worked for over 20 years. For the latter half of her time there, she served as the school's Director of Admissions.
Julie has been an active member of NAGAP since 2006. She served on four NAGAP conference committees, including serving as Chair for two annual conferences. She is also a Past President and now is a member of the External Relations and Partnerships Committee.
